Fighting Exclusion from digital opportunity

Digital Essex, led by Essex County Council, is dedicated to ensuring that no resident, business, or community organisation is excluded from digital opportunities. We support the digital phone switchover for businesses, ensuring they stay informed and prepared for the change. Our Digital Help Finder Tool empowers Community and Voluntary Services (CVS) to provide digital inclusion services, helping residents access workshops and training. We also work to bridge the digital divide by offering devices and SIM cards to charities, enabling them to support those in need.

What we do

We promote affordable internet access through social tariff signposting and distributing free data SIMs, ensuring that cost is not a barrier. As a regional and national advocate for digital inclusion, we push for comprehensive support, including skills development, internet access, and device provision.

Our mission

Our overarching mission is to make Essex the best-connected county for residents and businesses. We collaborate with partners like BDUK and DSIT to expand broadband availability and leverage Project Gigabit for gigabit-speed connections across the region. Through this, we aim to drive innovation, boost economic growth, and ensure that all individuals and businesses can thrive in the digital age, regardless of location or circumstances.
