Loake Shoemakers Signs Exclusive Partnership with Buyerdock
Loake Shoemakers partners with Buyerdock to integrate Digital Product Passports (DPP) across its entire product range!
Buyerdock was born out of the need for retailers to access new product fast and for manufacturers to access retail buyers.
The Essex based company started to develop a digital catalogue for manufacturers to up-load their product details, first for retail buyers but soon discovered that there was a greater demand from consumers to know more about a product than just the ‘on-pack’ label. This idea of digital labelling ‘on-pack’ accelerated during COVID with the mass use of QRcodes.
Using the very latest technology Buyerdock developed the iQRcode™ which combines 3 key benefits:
1. For the Consumer, product information that is delivered through a WebApp and is limited only by the imagination of a companies marketing department (see examples).
2. For the Retail, a QRcode that scan’s at the check out, replacing the need for a bar code but can also alert to an expired date.
3. For the manufacturer, the digital delivery of EU regulatory recycling logos through a unique and easy to use ‘Patent Pending’ tool.
When Buyerdock started, the founders had no idea of the level of regulation that was due to be implemented by the EU on product manufactures. Over the decades, there has been numerous regulatory changes, but none have been as critical or urgent as the tsunami of regulation for companies that will force them to stop trading in a market for non-compliance. The global rollout of digital regulations is underway, with Europe leading the charge through the Digital Product Passport. Non-compliant companies are now facing penalties of up to 10% of global turnover, making the threat real and immediate. Regardless of a company’s size or location, any business selling consumer goods into the EU must adhere to these new regulations. All other major markets such as the USA, Australasia, and the UK are adopting laws to follow suit. Therefore, all companies retailing consumer products will be unable to avoid the regulations.
Buyerdock has found it’s self in a unique position to support companies of all sizes with the regulatory challenges they now face, but through its ability to engage directly with the consumer, deliver visibility of supply chain as well as options to recycle, reuse, return. Thus keeping products in use for longer and accelerating the circular economy.
Buyerdock is currently working with Essex University on a number of projects along with two major international retailers, multiple brand owners and manufacturers as well as NGO’s and Governments, not just in the UK but overseas.
There are currently more than 50 million products across 105 countries with the Buyerdock iQRcode™ printed ‘on-pack’.
